Silverbacks Squad Named for FIBA World Cup Qualifiers » The Touchline Sports activities


Uganda males’s nationwide basketball group head coach Mandy Juruni has named a 12-man Silverbacks squad for the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 African Qualifiers.

The squad options three debutants: Rezlife Saints guard Edrine Ekau, Akron Zips ahead Marvin Musiime-Kamali, and Blessed Phillip Mbogo, who’ve all earned their first nationwide group call-ups.

Ekau arrives in camp after a powerful Nationwide Basketball League marketing campaign with Rezlife Saints. The guard averaged 17.3 factors per sport as Saints secured a third-place end within the common season, highlighted by victories over defending champions Metropolis Oilers and rivals Nam Blazers.

Based on the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA), the Silverbacks will depart on June 20 for a residential coaching camp in Kigali, Rwanda. The camp will run till June 30 because the group prepares for the following qualification window.

Uganda will then journey to Luanda, Angola, for the FIBA Africa World Cup Qualifiers scheduled from July 2 to July 5, 2026.

The Silverbacks face a difficult process after shedding all three of their opening Group D fixtures in opposition to Angola, Egypt, and Mali in the course of the first qualification window held between February and March 2026. Qualification Format
